RIVERSIDE ROCKS!!

The Annual Old Rockers
Rock 'n' Roll Reunion

Back in 1989 a group of old friends got together at the Ship Inn at South Brisbane. They had all been members of early rock and roll groups who played in and around Brisbane in the 50s and 60s. They decided that they should make it an annual event.

These casual meetings evolved to become the first "Rock'n'Roll Reunion" and around 300 people turned up. Over the next few years more and more bands were included, "imported" singers and bands were introduced and karaoke crept in, until eventually the original concept was lost and the whole thing was abandoned.

In 2003, a few of the originals decided that it was time to get back to basics - to revive the original idea and get together members of Brisbane rock bands that played from the mid 50's to the early 70's for an authentic, dinky-di day of rock'n'roll. And so was born the "Old Rockers Get Together". It was decided to make it a fund raiser for the Queensland Institute of Medical Research.

The first of these took place in 2004 and was a great success which raised a nice sum for QIMR. Since then an average of around 600 people have turned up each year for a great day out.

In 2010 the event is on Sunday 21 March, kicking off at 11am with authentic bands and players thoughout the day. Bands to be advised.

Once again, "Riverside" at 50 Oxlade Drive, New Farm will be the venue. Its huge dance floor and grassy outdoor areas are very popular, and can comfortably accommodate over 800 guests.

So, if you remember the old Brisbane rock dances of the 50s & 60s, you have to be there. Or if you just want to have a great day's entertainment come along.

Admission is only $10.00 and all are welcome. But please, STRICTLY NO BYO.
