USEFUL STUFF

WINZIP

To obtain a copy of WinZip, you can either click this link,  WinZip (http://www.winzip.com)

OR buy a computer magazine with a cover CD. Most of these include a copy of the latest version of WinZip - check the contents list before buying. Familiarize yourself with the procedures before using WinZip on the zip files and programmes on this page.

RECOMMENDED SOFTWARE

These three programmes are ones which I use constantly and have found invaluable, which is why I recommend them. Also they take up a minimum of hard disk space. They have been around for years and are unlikely to disappear in the near future.

NoteTab

All of my web pages are created or edited with the multi-award winning NoteTab.

NoteTab Light (free version) will do just as good a job with only minor differences. It is often upgraded and you can get latest version by downloading it from the NoteTab site as shown above.

The full version is also available from the same web site. It costs about US$20.00 and is worth every cent.

IrfanView

Fantastic image viewer/converter. I have been using it since the first version and it has never fallen over yet. Create thumbnails and slideshows, add effects, resize and crop images, create 3D buttons, thumbnails, change colours or add simple text to images. With plugins (separate downloads) it will open just about any image or audio file, even movie and music files.

The latest version of this programme is available from the IrfanView site. I have not included it on the download page as it is frequently updated. For the programme, all the plugins and more information, visit the web site shown above..

ColorCop RGB Ver. 5.4.5

A great little stand-alone programme with a quick, easy way to find the Hexadecimal values for any colour you choose from the Colour Picker. Deceptively simple and very useful. Automatically adds your chosen colour to the clipboard for immediate use. You can use the Eye Dropper tool to select and identify any colour in any page you open. I have found it invaluable to generate colour codes for HTML files. You can also get colour values for use in graphic and drawing programmes.

To download and for more information, visit the web site shown above.

To install, create a new folder, ColorCop. Download the file to your new folder. To unzip, double click on the file. Make sure you unzip it to the same folder. ColorCop DOES NOT require installation - once you have unzipped it the programme can be used immediately. For further information about this programme, first read the ColorCop Readme which comes with the programme.
