Why learn HTML
I like to know how things work so that's why I decided to learn a new language - HTML or HyperText Markup Language. Now if you think HTML is hard, you are in for a pleasant surprise. HTML uses simple instructions in plain English combined with tags. It is very easy to create a small web page having only a basic knowledge of HTML. In fact, we will be creating a web page in the very first lesson (a very small one). Even if you prefer to use a programmes like Dreamweaver or Frontpage , you will find it useful to know what is going on under the shiny exterior. You will also be able to correct errors and repetitions which inevitably creep into generated code. Hand coding or editing will usually ensure cross-browser compatibility. With step by step instructions, examples and templates, the Beginners section will lead you gradually into a working knowledge of HTML. If you are still interested at the end of this part, you can go on to the Intermediate and Advanced sections. These tutorials began back in the days when there were few ready made programmes available. Guides were few and far between and often hard to follow. These days, even with so many web creation programmes available, many people are still interested in learning the "nuts and bolts" of HTML. Price, of course, is always a factor, as the better programmes are quite expensive, and the cheaper or even free ones may leave something to be desired. With HTML you can create entire websites for no outlay except your own sweat and blood.
