DEPRECATED CODE

DEPRECATED ELEMENTS

What is this stuff? Why do I bother learning HTML when the rules keep changing, I hear you say. And once again just about everything you've learned is about to be turned on its head. But not unlearned because .....
  • the changes presuppose you have learned at least the basics of HTML
  • cross browser compatibility is important
  • deleting outdated & incompatible code assumes you know the original code.

These are some of the ones that will be replaced by style sheets:
  • BASEFONT (base font size)
  • CENTER (shorthand for DIV align=center)
  • FONT
  • STRIKE (strike-through text)
  • U (underlined text)
