About OzWebWeaver
Oz Web Weaver began life some years ago when I first became interested in creating a web site for our studio. It started as a modest guide to overcome the sheer frustration felt when trying to use the programmes available at that time. The only way to fix them was to rewrite the underlying HTML code. I became so involved that I eventually became a professional web designer. I found the American guides too "American", and the general style of most irritating. Gradually I put together a basic HTML guide for my own use. Then I was asked by teacher friends to provide assistance in teaching school children the basic elements of HTML and web design, and so produced a Beginners' Guide. This evolved into Oz Web Weaver and went on sale in a couple of local outlets. About that time (1998) a modest beginners' version of OWW made its first appearance on the Web - a logical progression. Since then it has undergone several revisions and expansions. With over 100,000 downloads since 1998, it has gained wide acceptance and appreciation with people, not only from Australia, but from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Canada, Belgium, France, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines and Taiwan, and a few others. About Toni I live and work in Brisbane, Australia. I have had over 25 years experience in computers and IT related work, and have just retired as a professional web designer. I currently design CD covers & do the duplication work for our recording studio. I am a strong advocate of keeping web design relatively clear and simple, and have no time (literally) for ever more complex and slow loading web pages, sites that are difficult to navigate, poor or confusing design, massive graphics, sites that require a plug in to work, and those that only work properly in one browser. My primary aim when designing a web site is to keep in mind the fact that about 80% or more of the world's internet users DON'T have cable or other fast connections, or may have timed connections. I have tried to follow these principles throughout this tutorial. My husband, Vance, a professional musician, composer, arranger and recording engineer, runs Doghouse Studio, one of Brisbane's most respected recording studios, with many local, national and international clients. We also run the Brisbane Rock'n'Roll reunion each year. Click to visit our studio Doghouse Studio for more information. They say there's no such thing as a free lunch, but OzWebWeaver is completely free for anyone to use, and will stay that way. Copyright ©1998-2008 OzWebWeaver |
